“…China’s economy is dependent on trade surpluses”. You go through an extraordinary amount of effort to belittle America and attempt to show how the world needs China and China needs nothing but soybeans, and then you make that statement. You made so many false statements and had so many omissions (oil imports) that your statements are far more egregious than Zeihan's… which I agree in principal are absurd not withstanding some sort of cataclysmic event that no one can predict.

You are exaggerating like Peter Zeihan! My discussion on soybeans was limited to analysis of if 500 million Chinese will die from starvation because of sanctions -- as Peter claims.

China needs every country as much as every country needs China.

The world is completely interconnected.

A smartphone depends on raw materials, parts and labor from 100+ countries.

The whole obsession with deglobalization or building a wall is a right-wing fantasy. After six years of trade and tariff wars with China, the futility should be obvious by now. In 2021, the US imported $500 billion of Chinese goods.

China’s demographics were thought to be bad – it turns out they’re worse than anyone thought. The results of the 2020 ten-year census are leaking out. Some 100 million people that they thought were there are not because of the cruel one-child policy.

These are young people and especially young women. It’s thought local counties overcounted the number of schoolchildren to get more money from the central government.

And there’s so much more to Peter Zeihan’s predictions, a lot of fascinating detail.
